1 Down

We've got one surgery down. Everything went really well and they got plenty of tissue for testing, testing, and more testing. We won't know the results of the biopsy until Tuesday afternoon at the earliest. And then at that point there still might be more testing needed. We did, however, get the inital results of the spinal fluid and it was CLEAR! YAY! That means the cancer hasn't gotten in there yet. They did send it off for a little more thorough work-up and that could always present a surprise change but at this point it is looking good. Really good! Annabelle is doing great this evening. She had to lay on her back for a minimum of 2 hours following the lumbar puncture. It helps to reduce the chance of headaches that so often follow a spinal tap. By then she was wanting to sit up and wanted to know why she couldn't get up and play! She has gotten up and went potty and did fine. No headaches or issues. She is quite impressed with the bed controls and keeps sitting herself up and then laying back down. Apparently she feels pretty good! She was happy to get eating again which made her able to take oral Loratab, which probably accounts for her good mood! She is going to stay overnight to have an MRI tomorrow. They will be looking at her brain and checking for any spread of the cancer. Assuming everything goes well, then she will be discharged until we have the biopsy results back next week. We will then have a big meeting with the entire team (neurosurgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, etc...) to discuss her treatment. She will probably be seen in clinic some days before then, but we plan to head back to Grandma and Grandpa's in Tremonton.

We came in this morning prepared for a very high risk and complex surgery and now we're ending the day watching movies and ordering room service. Not bad, not bad at all. An extra special thanks to my great friend Jessica! She came today and brought us lunch from Cafe Rio (we so need one of those in MT) and stayed for the afternoon. And thanks Zack for watching the kids so she could get away!

We were so happy to hear good news today.
We felt so good about your fun day with Annabelle yesterday.
We will keep you in our prayers; Erica had Annabelle's name put in the temple in New Zealand and Frank's daughter Adonna did the same in Reno.
Thanks for your help while we were gone. Things just happened so fast, we surely felt guilty over that.

I have just read your updates and it sounds as though you are receiving fantastic medical care and support. I am pleased to hear Annabelle is in good spirits and active, as both are a telltale sign of a child feeling better :) Sending you all good thoughts and karma from the Land Down Under. Look after yourselves and one another.
