First Week

It's hard to believe that Layla is 10 days old! I can't believe it was only 10 days ago that I was in the hospital giving birth, but at the same time those 10 days have gone by so fast. My mom came last weekend and just left this morning. It was so nice to have her here to help. Annabelle got quite attached to her grandma and bawled when she left. She is going to miss rides in grandma's car to get treats and sharing her room with grandma. But luckily we will be back in Montana with grandma in just a few weeks!

Layla had her first Dr visit on Thursday. That was quite the day. My first outing with two kids and we had to go all the way to Grand Junction. And then trying to feed her in public for the first time. (Annabelle switched to a bottle at 10 days old so I never went through that before) Yikes! Thank goodness my mom was there to help! I thought for sure Layla had gained some weight. I mean just look at her neck....

It turned out she wasn't quite back to her birth weight, but almost. She weighed in at 5 lbs 15oz. But I must admit I don't want Layla to grow a single inch. I want her to stay so perfect and tiny forever! This picture makes me want to cry too.
This is Layla with her cousin Braden. He is almost 2 months old and was basically the same size as Layla when he was born. Look how big he looks compared to Layla! I just don't want her to grow that fast!

And here is Layla after her first sponge bath at home. Notice big sister Annabelle in the back being such a good helper!
Giving mom some kisses. She is so sweet!
Here is another picture showing how nice of a big sister Annabelle is. She gave Layla this toy off her bouncy seat to play with. Layla would rather eat it.
We're all adjusting to life as a family of four, but it's going to take some time. Annabelle is very good with Layla but it has been hard for her to share. Thankfully that is getting better though. Now grandma left and we will be packing up to move, so I'm sure the tantrums aren't over yet! But one day we'll be settled into our "new normal" life in paradise.....we can't wait!

And I've had a few people ask so I just thought I'd clarify......It's Lay-la, just like it looks. Like the Eric Clapton song.

What a fun post. How fun to get to share a moment with you and your family. Just for the record, (and I know that you are very busy right now) but I miss the stick figure family picture! Looking forward to seeing you in a while.

Sally, I'm pretty sure you're one of the cutest moms I know...especially in the camo t-shirt. :) What an adorable little family you have! I can't wait to meet Layla...someday! Hopefully she won't be 2 when I meet her like Annabelle! Good luck with the move and adjusting! You're adorable!
