Independence Day

We had a fun 4th of July. I have to admit, since we were living in CO last year, and they don't allow fireworks in the city, I missed the pyrotechnic fun! But we made up for it this year. We enjoyed time with the local family and lighting off fireworks. Annabelle was very into them this year! She was so excited she only put 1 boot on to stomp on snaps!

Layla had fun for the first bit, but it is way past her bedtime by the time it gets dark out. So she went to bed and missed most the fun. I was super impressed that she slept through it all. The noise and sparks didn't phase her a bit!
Annabelle thought the firecrackers were a bit loud.
But she loved sparklers!

And parachutes were a big hit. She called them her "kites".
Some of my grandparents came to enjoy the show. Good thing they dressed warm. This is a classic look of Papa Harold's: Camo overalls and a blaze orange hat!
It started to get serious with the artillery shells.
Josh preferred to light things with a torch, of course.
