Sweet Baby Girl

I had an appt yesterday that I knew I would be having an ultrasound at. It had been scheduled for 2 weeks, but with last weeks events it became a big decision making one. I know I haven't said much about what happened last week, I'm really trying not to draw attention to myself. But here is a brief update: I went into the hospital after 12 hours of nagging, sharp pain on my right side that I just couldn't take anymore. The Dr and nurses all first thought the same thing.....appendicitis. Well, that is exactly what it felt like, and I knew that because I've already been through that a couple years ago. But since I don't have an appendix anymore that obviously wasn't the problem. So they hooked me up to the monitors and it turned out I was contracting every other minute. I guess I was just feeling it in a weird way. They tried a shot of Terbutaline to stop the contractions, but it didn't work. So then I got 3 oral doses of Procardia and eventually that worked. After a night of monitoring they discharged me. Then it was over to the Dr's office for a steroid shot to help develop baby girl's lungs, just in case she comes early. That was a nasty, thick injection into my rear. Then the next morning back in for another in the other cheek. FUN! And the Dr also sent me home with a Rx for Procardia to take every 4 hours and "bedrest". I say "bedrest" because that really isn't the best description of my activities. I think bedrest is only really adhered to in the hospital. It's more like couch potato rest at home.

So I have been on the meds and "bedrest" ever since. I did get to go off of the meds at one point, due to nasty side effects, but that proved to be a bad idea and within 24 hours I was back on. So I knew that yesterday's appt would be very important to see how my little girl was coming along. I am happy to report that she looks great! They estimated her weight to be 4 pounds already. I thought that was pretty big, but the Dr said that is right about average. And they could see her doing the "practice breathing" so that was a really good sign. I'm sure the steroids helped with that. Overall things are really good considering all the past complications with this pregnancy.

Since baby girl looked so good my Dr felt confident with 2 more weeks of meds and bedrest and then they'll let her come whenever it happens. I honestly think I will stop the meds and things will be somewhat back to normal and then it'll be close to the original due date when she comes. But I guess there's the possibility that she could come a lot sooner so we'll be prepared. So in the next 2 weeks while I'm on "bedrest" I'll be frantically getting her room ready and Annabelle's quilt finished up. I don't have to do the flat on your back type of bedrest and I really feel fine to be up doing things but Josh won't allow much! However, don't be surprised if you see me out of the house either. Josh still works 72 hours a week and I still need to buy groceries so I can't be completely homebound! Besides I'll be going crazy freezing casseroles and soups for after the baby comes. I worry the most about Annabelle. She is adjusting to her lazy mother quite well, but I still feel guilty that I can't take her to the park or play outside with her. I think the next 2 weeks will go by fast and then who knows what will happen.

Honestly, the worst part is taking the Procardia. The roof of my mouth has peeled off and for the first few days my head looked like a pumpkin. All puffy and VERY red. It drains my energy and at times I feel like I can't even lift my arms. It's probably the best thing to keep me from doing too much though! But only 2 more weeks of it. Yay!

Here is a picture of my sweet baby girl's face. The top of her head is to the right. I know it's hard to see on these ultrasounds sometimes, but she was absolutely adorable in person!

Sorry about the nightmare week! I'm glad to hear things are going better, but you'd better not be stubborn! Listen to your Doctors... they know what's best for you and your little girl. That's what the church is for- Just call on your RS sisters and have them take Annabelle to the park and pick up your groceries!! If I lived near you, I'd be bugging you so bad to make sure you stayed in "bedrest"!

I am going to side with grandma kroll on this one. MIND YOUR MANNERS! You are not lazy when you are following doctor's orders. Two more weeks is not very long in order to have healthy a little one. That little face is adorable. Good Luck I'll be thinking and praying about you (and grandma kroll:)

Oh dear....I just read my comment and I sound a little sassy. Sorry. I hope I wasn't offensive. And I wonder where Kassidy gets it from. :) Have a good day and I hope I didn't cause you grief! You go girl!

I'm only about 4.5 hours away if you need anything. :) Seriously, I will come if you need it! It's good to hear that things are going a little better. I'd still love to have her come on my birthday, but if she comes early and healthy, we'll take that too! :)

AHH! I am so behind on my blog reading and my blog has been neglected. I'm sorry things are a struggle for you, but please no that if you need any help I am more than willing. I hope the next couple of weeks go by quickly.
